Default Car's Planned Non Operation in CA

Hi Everyone,

I am planning to buy a car privately but I am looking to register it after a month on my name.

It is possible to complete the purchase and then declare "Planned Non-Operation"(PNO) on the car in CA.?

The car will be parked in my garage while on PNO

Appreciate your help.

Thanks

Yes it is: it just has to be off the road so you'll be fine if it's in the garage.

PNO will also negate the insurance requirement, probably another headache you can do without until the need arises.

Check with the DMV but I believe the car has to be registered in your name within 10 days of purchase.
Most states will not allow private individuals to keep open titles.
