car insurance and no claim bonus
Hi there,
I'm moving to the San Francisco bay area and would like to know if my current UK car insurance no claims certificate will help bring the car insurance costs down for me?
Does any one have any experience on this?

There is no harm in trying, and no discount if you don't try. Some here will say it's useless; my local insurance agent/broker (I forget which) just took my word for it and applied a discount anyway.

Here proof of being previously insured carried more weight than a no claims certificate. Or it did in Oregon, there doesn't seemed to be a no claims discount here. YMMV

It's a sales pitch if anything.
What might help would be proof of a clean drivers license, that'll get you the rates of a 18 year old with no history, which is better than the rates of a 15 year old learner.

Re: car insurance and no claim bonus
I went through this just yesterday with various insurers.
Having only had a USA DL for 3 days I was hitting high premiums despite 7+ years driving experience (clean) and associated no claims bonus in the UK.
In the end I went with AllState who recognised my UK driving history based on word of mouth only. Premiums came down cheaper than my wife who has been driving 16 yrs in the US :-)
