In your previous post to me you mentioned a provision file. What exactly is that and how do i set it up? Is it worth my while as i have an approval date, and have recieved and sent the forms that come with packet 3 from the Embassy. I know that they have them in London as i checked on the royal mail website. I keep seeing a lot of couple's timelines who have approval dates later than mine and they already have their visa I'm not whinging or anything, i'm just getting a little impatient.

search the document in www.k1faq.com for the phrase *provisional file*. If that
information leaves you unsatisfied, then search the same phrase in google groups

Hi Robbiesgirl,
I'll just fire you off a quick answer in case Ameriscot is offline right now....
The provisional file is not really something that can help here. A provisional file
is opened when you send your forms into the London embassy prior to the I-129F being
approved stateside. It's just a way of shaving a few weeks off the process at an
earlier stage than you have already recahed....
Your I-129F has already been approved stateside, and you stated that your forms have
already been received in London. How long ago did you send them?

If you hav sent in your check list to London then your file is open as provisional
until they recieve the approval. Call them and if you can tell them you can take
24 hr, 48 hr notice. My husband did that & they got him an interview very quickly
for us. Good luck Oh yeah I am not an attorney, this isn't legal advise blah blah
blah. Karryl

Hey guys,
Thanks for your replies. To Raoul, i sent in all my forms last week, they got to London last Friday (i checked with royal mail). They would have been there sooner, but the Embassy originally sent me all the wrong forms By the sounds of it, you are right and a provision file might not be that much use to me at this stage. Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated

I can't remember what comes in what packet with the fiancé visa, but what the embassy needs is you biographical data sheet (I did the OF-230 part i for a spousal visa; I think it is the OF156 for the fiancé?), the document checklist (OF169 or UK/85) and the petition approval from the INS.
I think it is really worth phoning them now to find out the status of your file, and highlighting to them that your petition is about to run out. The number is 0207-355-3335.
Good luck!

Thanks guys. Ameriscot, i know i have sent off all the right forms, it's just the interview date i am waiting on. I'll be sure to call them, the next time i am free to call is on Wednesday (who's idea at the Embassy was it to have the lines only open from 2-4pm???) I'll be sure to let you know what i find out. Thanks again.
