Calling all boxing fans
Hello there
It looks like Ricky Hatton is making his long awaited US debut sometime in May at the Foxwoods Casino, Ct. opponent and exact date have yet to be finalised.
I was wondering if anyone else on here would be interested in having some kind of BE meet-up to coincide with the event and watch the fight.
Obviously details are sketchy right now, but it would be good to get some kind of idea of who'd be interested, even tentatively.
Anyway, just getting this out there as thy say, and if no-one replies I'll probably dmp it from time to time.

Sounds like a laugh, any ideas on ticket costs?
And errr if it's at the end of the month, probably can't make it....or is that the begining of the month...can't remember when we'll be off...

With any luck someone on here has bound to have been to a fight in the US before and can give us a guestimate.
For what its worth the fight is primarily in the US for tv purposes, so demand should not be too bad.
Anyway, I'll keep bumping this and updatingit with info as I get it.

When I was visiting my parents in N.Ireland after I lost my job in June, my Dad , BIL and myself went to see a boxing fight at a big hotel in Bangor ( can't remember the name).
The most memorable bout of the night was a local guy called Boyd who was very chiseled, shaven headed and looked pretty bad ass, he also had the support of the local crowd with a number of females holding placards touting 'the Bulldog Boyd' on them.
He got in the ring against a Turkish guy who looked a bit flabby around the middle and out of shape, the Bulldog Boyd unsportingly head-butted the Turk when the ref told them to touch gloves. We could see this pissed the Turkish guy off big time, the Turkish guy then knocked the Bulldog out cold within the first minute of the fight, served him right the cocky twat.
Someone later told us the Turkish guy worked in a local kebab shop, just shows you you can't judge a book by it's cover.

Looks like this will be a waste of time.
The date is fixed for May 13th, but they couldn't get their preferred venue (Madison Square Gardens) so its in Foxwoods.
Now they haven't be able to get any of their preferred fighters.
Think I'll pass this time round.

www.secondsout.com seems to have someone different at the front of the queue daily. I would love to go and will if the opponent is right.
I went to see 4 times while in the UK at the MEN everyone was fantastic.

I would love him to get someone like Gatti in a decent venue - preferrably Vegas.
If that happens nothing will stop me from going but right now it looks like a second rate opponent in a second rate venue coming up - no thanks.
I'd love to have seen some of his dust-ups in the MEN - I have only seen fights in the King's Hall in Belfast - great venue but showing its age now.

Do you think that Gatti will beat Baldomir?
Did you see the Cotto fight? Brutal....
