I don't laugh at the horrible circumstances that befell many Welsh miners. I object most strenuously to such "humor". It wasn't just the injuries and deaths, but the callous way many mine owners treated the miners and their families. It was criminal.

I'm sorry, I'm no longer allowed to reply to this post as per your instructions.

Pity, too, because I agree with you.

Forgot to add - although I'm talking to myself of course - nobody finds it funny. People use humour in the face of disaster.

Perhaps he's checking with the State Department.

I'm so sorry, it's just that the holier than thou stuff pisses me off. As does being told who I can and can't talk to. Not very socialist behaviour.

I've already offered him to the budding neocons on this group but they didn't seem to jump at the offer...

I'm sorry Vern, as you know, this is a sensitive topic for me. Just all the pity that some would rather make fun of me even though it must be obvious that I am emotional about this subject area. It is very painful.

Bush has either lost it or is extremely stupidly stubborn -- or both! because this kind of nomination does NOT promote any sort of unity between the parties. And he wonders why his nominees come under political pressure? Get real.
You do know that he did very well at undergrad and grad school? Top school and apparently top or near the top of his class. As a Supreme Court Judge his job will not be to unite the parties, the Judiciary is separate from the Legislature.

Last edited by Franklin; Jul 21st 2005 at 2:09 am. Reason: Judge Roberts went to the same college for under/graduate studies

Well if I were President, I'd give it to a man of the people......like a miner perhaps.

Judge Roberts was a steel worker for a while, worked his way through law school. From a pretty humble background. So maybe the President has picked a man of the people.

Think he's picked a lackey for the Bush dynasty myself, but there you go.
