Default Broadband Providers?

Does anyone have any advice/experience on who to use for the broadband internet connection. I live in Southern California and have lookad at Adelphia. The AT&T also looks OK $29.99 for 1.5Mb.

Can anyone suggest a good provider at reasonable cost? Looking for at leat 1Mb but prefer 2Mb.

We're stuck with Adelphia...and to be honest...there shite...they randomly cut the internet for maintanence, which is one thing, but they don't give any warning, and the speeds are no where near what they advertise...

Road Runner is pretty good if you get it, they do decent package deals especially with cable.

Haven't got experience with any of the other broadband services though, but I'm sure there's plenty of other decent services, especially out in CA.

We have Cox right now and it's great. In 2 weeks we move to an Adelphia region and am not looking forward to it. However I just read that Time Warner have just bought Adelphia and are linking up somehow with Comcast so hopefully that will make it nice.

We used Comcast for a while which we were quite happy with, however when Verizon DSL became available to us we switched because Comcast couldn't guarantee a static IP address but Verizon could. Personally I haven't a clue what that means but my husband works from home most of the time and said he needed a static IP address.

Most people don't need a static IP, no real advantage to it...though only really need it if your using your own puter as a web server, to host your own website off your puter, ftp off your puter etc.

Deal with time warner and adelphia could be good, but then there has been talk of that for ages, and talk of adelphia going under and staying under for ages as well, so until something happens, taking it with a pinch of salt.

From what the artical said the deal is done. Not sure if this is just in Ohio or will be nationwide at some point.

Well that's cool...hope it rolls out quickly across the country because Adelphia suck right now and there's no alternate, well there is verizon dsl, which is more expensive and slower at the moment.

We have just switched to Verizon DSL also with premium msn & so far its great & a good deal at $30 a month. Touch wood the service continues to be as good as it has so far. Love the idea of being able to connect with both computers at the same time & still being able to use the phone without having to pay for an extra line.
