Brits and religion
Cox News Service:
In a country with a growing Muslim population, many Britons are grappling with what it means to be British. As a result, many are returning to the Church of England's grand cathedrals and small parish churches as Xmas approaches. <rest of article removed for copyright reasons>

The last time my Mum and Dad tried to take me to Church, it didn't work out.

"grappling"? "grand"? and only mentions C of E religion: not inference at all that there are any other forms of belief - such as Romain Catholic , Methodist Churches, Quakers... heck not even the above mentioned Muslim religions.

A few minutes of The 700 Club, TBN, or any of the other countless TV evangelists, would be enough to turn the most ardent christian into an athiest.

Re: Brits and religion
The shock of moving to Plano (the Bible Belt that holds up the trousers of Texas) convinced me that there IS no religion in the UK .. at least, not one the guys and gals over here would recognise as a religion. When I described C of E to my avid Southern Baptist friend over here, she refused to acknowledge that what I described was Christian!
I am always surprised when I am reminded that yes, people are religious in the UK too! I went to a C of E school (weren't all schools C of E in the 70s?!!) and prayed and sang hymns...but I don't remember anyone at all under the age of 60 actually choosing to attend church on Sundays. Weddings/funerals/christenings only.
