Only if Britain creates an American Heritage Month. Lets see, T.S. Eliot, Jennie Jerome, Sir Hiram Maxim. American expats one and all.

Would it be mandatory for Americans to spell and speak proper English like what we do?

With all do respect, that petition is a complete waste of time as it will most likley fall on deaf ears. There will be no British Heritage month, nice thought though.

I believe "proper" english would be the King James version. Which means we would all be talking like Shakespearian actors.

haha!

I seriously wish British english would be the accepted standard, although I doubt it. Wouldn't it be nice, though, if people used "s" instead of "z" in certain words, and try to stick a "u" in somewhere once in a while?

Why? Have you ever been north of Watford?
Out side of the home counties no bugger can understand each other anyhow.

Get a scouser talking to a Geordi and then you'll realise there is no such thing as British English.
then drive 50 miles north of Newcastle to Scotland and everyone talks totally different.
Now drive 120 miles south down the M6 to Birmingham and you'll start talking like a brummie.
Turn right down the M5 to Bristol and you'll be OO'aaaring like the best of them.
Swiftly cross the severn bridge into Wales and holy jesus, another bunch of folks speaking garbage, not only speaking wierd English, but Cymru too.
Caerdyff indeed.

Why?? The "u"s are silent, so why are they necessary to put into the word in the first place? It's a superflous letter. Given how we pronouce words, "z"s make more sense. Who's to say one spelling is correct over the other? American English may have been derived from Britain, however, any good linguist would tell you that languages shift over time and distance. We're both correct, in our respective countries. I'd like to see Brits stop spelling license as "licence." Even tho there are probably Americans who spell it that way too. You know what they say about being in Rome...

Exactly, we can all become "Anglo-Americans" and attend July 4th parades dressed as Redcoats, or possibly the Pearly King and Queen. We'll get our own section in the museums and can sing rousing choruses of "Jerusalem" at baseball games. Can't wait.

We sing "God save the Queen " At Florida State University baseball games.

It used to be the Canadian national anthm for some strange reason.
But since they pissed the Yanks off they now use the UK version
