Yes you're right, BMI are part of the star alliance, but that doesnt mean they will be affected by the strike - other than if people are connecting.
It is only United who are striking - and it will affect Emirates, BWIA and Air New Zealand because United provide the ground staff for those airlines.

Uniteds problems arent as severe as you might think - the USA staff have had plenty in their payrise, and bonuses, but unfortunately london staff are treated as poor relations, even though they work at the worlds busiest airport. United management are punishing their passengers by not being honest and loyal to their own staff.

My father was Pan American and then UAL when they took over Pan Am's gates and routes. He still gets his travel perks (as do I - long story) which is why we're stuck with them.
