A lot of truth in that. My first wife managed a dole office in the 1980s and plod was forever round there finding out when and where their latest suspect cashed his giro. Far easier than going out looking for them.

The real fugitives had their giros stopped and when they came into the office to complain they had their collars felt.

Last winter 21,500 people over 65 died in England and Wales as a direct result of the cold. The UK has a higher number of avoidable winter deaths than other, similar European countries.

While the PC mob worry intensely about the British government paying out compensation for one tragic death, they are silent on giving desperately needed money to British seniors who can't afford to keep warm in the winter. Between 20,000 and 50,000 preventable deaths occur each year among British seniors from cold.

During one British winter, the BBC reported that "a higher proportion of the UK's population dies as a result of the cold than in either Finland or Russia":
Cold kills 'thousands' in a week. More than 2,500 people in England and Wales are likely to have died in the past week as a direct result of cold weather, health forecasters say ... "a higher proportion of the UK's population dies as a result of the cold than in either Finland or Russia".

Mr Clarke said there was no intelligence to suggest there were explosives in the house. Local residents were evacuated “as a precaution.

So it would suggest that there wasn't a crowd of people who may be blown up and I doubt he would go to bed with explosives on him unless he didn't speak very good English and didn't understand what a blow job was and his partner had suggested it.
I suppose it was unlikely that he had explosives in his house and if arrested might have things set up to detonate a bomb..... If a suicide bomber will strap explosives to his/her chest then what else will they do. I say kill them all, but first you have to find out who they are. I'm still for the placard idea.

Kind of interesting that you have lots of words to say about a single person who dies and few words about the thousands that die from the cold in the UK.

Here's some interesting comments from Norman Tebbit (reported by the BBC) ... about the damage inflicted on innocent victims by terrorist bombers: Tebbit on life as an IRA victim, "Or as the others go home to husband, wife, father, son or daughter, the victims go home to a house in darkness. 'How I wish he was still here', they will say."

Er...the topic of the thread is Mr. Menezes who did not, I believe, die from the cold but from eight slugs fired by Brit cops. In addition, he wasn't an old geezer.

If you want a thread about old folks dying from the cold in the UK, you're quite free to start one.

But he was cold.....because he was wearing a big coat on a warm day......and running to keep warm....so being cold is still on topic.......and not only old people die in cold winters.....

... was your question related to the opening post?

Anyway, it is quite pertinent to ask, "Why so much PC fuss about one death, and no PC fuss about thousands upon thousands of British citizens dying needlessly each year."

Nope -- my question was not a question at all. It was a statement to point out how much total crap you post.

Try not to encourage him! He'll be telling us next it was a direct consequence of the ill-advised Treaty of Trianon or Roe v. Wade or some such other crap.

Good points! Clearly the real issue here is keeping warm. British seniors can't run very fast to keep warm, they can be kept warm by having enough money to pay for essential heating. Sadly, the UK tax payer must first pay out huge amounts of money to every PC cause, and put up barriers to British seniors getting essential fuel money, things like "grants" that old British people can apply for, assuming of course their hands are warm enough to fill out the forms and their eyes are good enough to enable them to make sense of the questions.

Move to Spain

Keep warm and still get the heating grant. (I kid you not)

Double win scenario.

No, I think you often have strange leaps in logic. For example, you wrongly assume Americans in middle America are genetically unsound. Just a question, but didn't the Nazi's use such arguments?

Didn't you write, "I would hypothesize that costal people are less likely to ***** their relatives and have even been known to travel to other parts to choose their *****mates. Greater numbers of births are not going to improve the gene pool of middle America. Great numbers but sickly genes does not bode well for the distant horizon."

How many old people could you save each winter if you stopped giving terrorists their giro, which they use to set up bomb factories? Or is that not very PC

Oh definitely not PC! I mean to say, why should the PC crowd pick up on the British government who save so much money by failing to increase the pensions of older British citizens during the cold winter months, who in response cut back on their heating because they are too worried about paying bills and then literally die in their tens of thousands. Not a very PC kind of thing to talk about at all.
