I didn't much care for it until I met my husband but his family are hugely into baseball and his cousin plays for the Blue Jays. We go for all the extra stuff that goes on aside from the game.

Now basketball is something I cannot stand...

I go to watch the Mariners every now and then, I also like to see the Tacoma Rainiers, the local AAA team. A different attmosphere to the big stadium experience. I'd go more often, but the Missus doesnt like it at all. I like cricket too. I find both sports have that slow build up of potential energy that can get released, its also a good social event, more conducive to eat, drink and chat when compared to soccer. Though soccer still remains my true sports love.

I love cricket but do like watching baseball on the TV. Like cricket I can read a book at the same time as watch an enthralling game and miss none of the action, brilliant. I have followed the Yankees, only because an American friend followed them so it gave a good talking point. However I have missed the past two season due to emigrating from the UK, designing and building a house and settling in and have lost track of two seasons worth of changes. Our satellite tv provider only screens limited baseball games so I try and catch them when I can, obviously the time difference is a factor too. As I live in the Philippines basketball rules everything, including the others in my family and our village, particularly the American NBA, which I dislike.

Not really a fan of cricket.

The local minor league team have fun family nights with fireworks and things of that nature and a cheap ticket price.

Anyone here been to Cooperstown? The baseball hall of fame and museum, is pretty neat, even if you aren't a big fan of the sport. It's a quaint little town too :)

I have always thought of baseball as being similar to the one day game, but not at the International level. Baseball has no twenty20 or first class styles, just the one day game.

Best tip is to get into town early. Really early.

Parking sucks, especially in the summer. Just no parking at the place so you end up walking all over town, but most of the metered parking allows a card and there are a lot of fun places to grab a bite to eat :)

I am with the 'Friar Faithful' :)

Last year I went to ten games or so, and probably watched another 30-40 games on tv. The Padres suck, and are a bit of a running joke, but it was fun to get behind the underdog and get to the roster etc.
A few times I have wandered down to Petco Park after work, picked up a ticket for $15 and enjoyed a pleasant summer's evening at the stadium.

I have my tickets for a few 'giveaway' games this season already, and plan to take the train up to Anaheim for an away game against the Angels. Last year I went to an away game at the Dodgers, and Dbacks.

The big bummer here is the lack of hometown support. When the Dodgers come to town there are more LA fans than locals in the stands. I went to a Mets game last year where there thousands of travelling fans from the east coast. Impressive, but frustrating for the local team.

For many games, it's cheaper for a Red Sox fan to fly out and get a hotel to watch an away game than it is to watch a home game. If they want decent tickets that aren't either out behind the score board or with restricted views...

It does seem to have quite a lot. Not sure how it compares to newer stadiums but $10 beer for a 8oz beer, $10 dogs, $60 parking (Though I parked at the college across the bridge for $10 and walk the mile or so)...it's basically a money pit. I don't know how families can afford to do it. It's easily $350 for a family of 4 just to get the cheap, shit seats (no kids discount), plus another $100 on a couple of drinks for everyone and a snack. Doubling that if you want seats with a view that's unrestricted and skies the limit for behind home plate area.

That said, it's still cheaper than seeing the Patriots at Gillette :o
