Boring, Boring, Baseball!
#1
With the new baseball season upon us, I thought I would do a search for baseball threads. The most recent thread I could find was 2012 and the overall consensus seemed to be that Brits find baseball boring.
Contrary to the title I am a huge baseball fan, having fallen in love with the sport in 1992 when I first visited the states.
Are there any expats out there with a love for baseball and if so what are your expectations for the upcoming season.
I am a Braves fan and my main hope is we win more than we lose.
With a new stadium and a rebuilt team the future is looking bright.
Go Braves!!

I have been to 2 baseball games in the US. Worse than cricket.
I went the second time in case the first one was a fluke. It wasn't.
Never again.

Braves fan here. Looking forward to seeing the new ballpark at some point.
Hoping for a win tonight for their first home game.

Went once.
Snacks were good.
Finally found a game that is even slower than cricket. I didn't even think that was possible.

I'm going to the new ballpark in June, really looking forward to it. Would really like to see Bartolo pitch.

Went to the Dodgers once, found the margarita stall, lasted till the 7th, left blind drunk and sunburnt to buggery!

Yankees fan since 1976. Looking forward to a great re-building season with a lot of young talent in the pipeline.

I'm not all that bothered by it.
Probably doesn't help that it's so expensive....$10 for a cheapo beer, $6 for a water.
We went to Fenway last summer, last minute resell of tickets were $76 a ticket because it was expected to rain, which it didn't in the end and they were luckily great seats but those seats are usually $150...who can afford that with kids on a regular basis.
When the Expo's were around, it was cheaper to go to Montreal to see the Red Sox and it was a nice stadium.
AAA is fun and much cheaper though. Seen the Portland Seadogs and Pawtucket.
Needs cheaper beer for the lounging in the summer, cricket style though.
Oh and as it happens, the Red Sox lost that game. It was in the middle of two really huge winning streaks. Bases loaded right at the end and Big Pappi nailed it. Almost a grandslam for the win. Half a foot short of going over the wall. The atmosphere was amazing though.

and the spectators start to wander away in large numbers after the fifth or sixth innings. I don't agree with it being slower than cricket though - at least they can usually get a baseball match over in about three hours.

Houston Astros fan here
For the last 28 years I have coped with the ups and downs of the 'stros. Hoping for a better season this year.
I miss the Astrodome though, when they moved to Minute Maid Park the atmosphere was not the same plus the price increased dramatically as well.
Always think of the guys selling beer back in the day yelling out "best foam in the dome!"

Did you ever get to go to the dome or had it closed before you got here?
