Default Birth Control/Doctors while Adjusting Status!

Hi,

I am in the process of AOS from the VWP as I recently married a US citizen. My paperwork has been filed and we are waiting for an interview date etc.

Whilst i'm waiting i will soon run out of birth control pills and need to get some more. Am i able to use planned parenthood as a non us citizen? Or do i need to register at a local doctor? Will i be allowed to register if i don't yet have a visa/green card?

Any help/advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

Yes.

No one registers at a local doctor. You simply call and make an appointment with whatever doctor you want to see.

No registration involved. Yes, you can see any doctor you want, even if you don't have a visa/green card.

Since you are married, you should really look into getting added to your spouse's insurance ASAP.

If your spouse has employer provided health insurance, I believe you can be put on his insurance as soon as you are married. In fact, I think you have to be placed on his health insurance within 60 days of the event (your marriage) or else you'll have to wait for the annual open enrollment period to be placed on his employer provided health insurance.

I think that depends on the insurance or state.

When we were up in Maine, had 33 days to add me on marriage, no idea why it was 33, seems a bit random.

When kids were born here in MA, had 30 days to add them, but till they, they were covered as they were considered "mother" coverage.

Yah, I think I was wrong about that. I think it is 30 days by federal law but a state can possibly require more time than that.

This is our Health Insurance primer. It might give you an idea of what to expect as you get settled.
