Not really something I would wanna carry around with me, it's so big & heavy! I already have to carry my son around & he's pretty big & heavy!!! I'll carry the mace thing around with me, but other than that, I don't feel threatened enough to carry any other weapons.

When I'm with my son (which is most of the time), I carry a diaper bag, when I'm out at night I carry a little purse, so there's no way it could fit in there. My diaper bag is way to heavy as it is without that heavy thing in it. I wouldn't be able to get it out quick enough to use it anyway, so it's more use to me in my truck!

If the typical Americans driving skills are an indicator of hand/eye coordination, no wonder there's the motto is "In God We Trust"!

Most Americans I know are far better shots than they are drivers.

Floridians, in general, have a terrible reputation for driving. Good grief, there's enough wrinklies living there who really shouldn't be on the road...

izibear]That's the difference between the US folk and the rest of the world.
Ahem. There are a few other cultures on the face of the earth that value personal freedom you know. And who have fought for it a lot more recently than this country has had to.

They fought for freedom from tyranny and have tended to resist government interference in their personal lives ever since.
Actually they fought for economic independence (via political independence) from a colonial government. Life here wasn't that bad under the Crown you know. If you want to see tyranny, well, we could list off some examples.
Can you tell me how there is less "government interference" in the U.S., than, say, in England, France, Australia, Sweden, and Papua New Guinea?

What do you think is the reason for the Second Amendment?
It was an 18th century response by a government (interfering bunch) that had just finished throwing off a colonial government. It was appropriate to the times. Doesn't make it appropriate for all time.

Seriously, your waiting for that? Oh well, never mind.

I don't know EXACTLY what I'll need protecting from BUT I can tell you that I'd be pissed if my family ended up falling victim to something that wasn't implemented just because other people are a little scaredy cat of their civil liberties being injured. Likewise, if something does happen to me or my family, I'd hope someone would learn from it to help others.

BTW - this is NOT about MY family.... this discussion is about if we can implement something that may be deemed to be Big Brother but the net result is better than without it, when do we draw the line?
