Default Best place to live in LA for auditions?

Hi everyone!

Just wondering if anyone knows the best place to live in Los Angeles to be able to easily commute to auditions via public transport. I know that they hold audtions pretty much everywhere but is there a general area where upcoming/new actors (not full on celebs) seem to reside?

Would prefer safe neighbourhood not too out of the way

Thanks in advance for your answers

Unclerico, as it happens I do know a good answer to this, since I have lots of family in LA and I even partly own a home just between Burbank and North Hollywood. The neighborhood around there (just northeast of the intersection of Ventura Freeway and Hollywood Freeway) is accessible, reasonably priced (for LA) and not a huge crime area. It may not be all that fashionable, but it's close enough to things if you have a car or don't mind public transportation. Safety, well, I'm not a big fan of women walking about alone or at night... to me, safety is really more how you act and react than about whether someone is lying in wait for you behind a bush. Everywhere is potentially dangerous, and this is, after all, the USA. No security cameras.

Be careful with language. You want to visit for less than 90 days not live for three months.

I'd try extended stay hotel, short term rentals are rare.

@sir_eccles with what language? I beg your pardon, I want to visit for 3 months
Serviced apartments are kinda like hotels as they offer laundry, changing towels/sheets etc and are rentable from 3 days with no maximum stay, usually used for people travelling on business. I've found lots of companies that run them all over LA but just needed to get a feel for which area is best before I go ahead and book one.

If you stayed for 3 months, for most months it would result in over staying.

No I wouldnt overstay in fact I've got my return ticket booked already. Serviced apartments allow you to stay for any ammount of time if you're paying in advance and its over three days ie I went to Germany before, used the same worldwide company I would use in LA I stayed for two weeks but ended up staying for 2 months and 3 days I just had to pay upfront. Just like a hotel you have to give your card details and you get your linen and towels changed, only difference is u get a little kitchenette which is pretty sweet. It's not a frequent choice tourists make but as I've travelled the world it seems the best option for me as it works out less than a hotel and you get the same privelages. Plus I've got some loyalty points I've collected over the last 7 years so it'd be a perfect opportunity for me to stay in one.

Visit, yes. Live, no. The language is important when it comes to immigration. One might get you in; the other might get you back to London a lot quicker than you planned.

So what happens if you go to an audition, and the director says "you're great! I want to hire you!". You still have the visa issue to deal with.
