Well, here's the article

It looks like there's a chance it might happen, but I think you're right Manc, chances are they'll fly into Minneapolis before they fly into Detroit.

it was doomed to fail.

Also Northworst has upped it's international european flights out of DTW so there was more competition. (I think MAN is on the schedule too) by adding flights to Brussels and Dusseldorf.
no we dont do manchester YET!!! our London planes are constantly over booked. Because of shortages brussels has been temp cancelled. And Duss is still going and full to overbooked on every flight! Manc will be great to fly. I hope we do get it. Were getting the new plane next year and they will be going out of Detroit for asia and european flights.. So now that BA has gone less competition. Wonder if it was the weather that put them off.

BA had no alliance partners at Detroit for connections.......so were flying just Detroit Metro area clients.

they tried to consolidate the flight with a Houston one too....... but the times didn't work out, and lets face it, when you cannot fill a 767 across the pond it is time to give up.

I am surprised to be honest that BMI hasn't joined Skyteam........ Manchester could be a great hub for them and Delta and Continental who currently operate tranatlantic flights out of MAN....... Plus it would give Northwest a reason to fly into MAN.

Flying to Manchester is the best. I fly US Airways usually from Philly to Man. Manchester Airport is so convenient and user friendly (I am biased, I am from MAN). Anyway back to the original question, I suppose BA is just doing what is profitable for them, it is a business after all. I wonder if they are going to use their One World partner, American Airlines (ugh!), to filter passengers through other cities to catch BA flights? That could be a possibility. BA is awesome. I really like their World Traveller Plus cabin. I am flying them from BWI to MAN (via LHR) this Christmas is WTP.
