Aussie gas bottles
#1
Has anyone brought any Aussie gas bottles back to the UK and managed to get them filled?
We brought three (purged) 9kg bottles back with us but so far I've found Calor Gas to have a virtual monopoly here and none of the outlets I've been to so far will touch them.
A bit annoying really because we went to quite a bit of trouble to get the bottles in a fit state to ship safely!

Hi Analowl,
I never even bothered to bring mine back, your right Calor gas does seem to have a monopoly on filling gas bottles.
I went to the council recycle yard and they gave me two 3.9kg bottles free of charge, and all I need to do is get them filled at 13 quid a go.
Hope this helps.

Apart from the problems of filling, aren't the connections different? I know it's pointless bringing UK ones to Aus so would imagine it's the same going back.

Even Australia have adapted to the standard gas fittings for their bottles.
Over here in the UK,B and Q try to sell their new fancy regulators but you don't need them, your fine with the standard ones.
