Atlanta or Costa Mesa
Hi
I have been offered a position in the US arm of the company I work at, and am able to choose between working in our Atlanta or Costa Mesa offices.
Do you have any advice as to which would be most suitable for a single 32 year old? My wage will be okay but not sky high, and I will not know anyone in either location.
Thank you
Sarah

Well, it depends - do you see yourself hanging out with The Real Housewives of Orange County or The Real Housewives of Atlanta?
Seriously, though, Costa Mesa and Atlanta are very different. (also, Atlanta is big - exactly where you would be working and living would make a difference although it would all still be different from Costa Mesa)
The biggest difference, though, is the cost of living - if you are going to be earning the same amount in either place you are likely to find that your money goes a lot further in the Atlanta area.

Thanks guys, you've given me plenty to think about!
I am still negotiating salary so this will be a consideration, sounds like a pretty major one!
Will take you up on the offer of more info when I know a bit more, much appreciated :-)

Try craigslist.org to look for rentals etc and get a feel for the relative costs between the two. Atlanta could give you better city living, Costa Mesa better weather and beach lifestyle.

I from So. California and California will offer a better life style in my opinion, and while expensive, you dont need a high income to live there, especially if single.
Weather will be better in California as well.

Re: Atlanta or Costa Mesa
Use the following cost of living calculator to compare the cost of living between the two cities. Choose Los Angeles for the first city and Atlanta for the second city and it should indicate that Atlanta is about 30% cheaper. Costa Mesa will likely be even more expensive than LA due to housing costs so Atlanta will probably be about 40% cheaper.
