Asylum in the USA
Anyone here claimed asylum in the US? Have filed a case myself and have the support of one of our State Senators, but am wondering what the interview is like................

Your claiming political asylum in the US? May I ask what country your from? You couldn't be from the UK and be claiming asylum

Even if you weren't originally from the UK the fact that you had residence there excludes you from asylum in the US.
"Same here. But like the Viet Cong, I kept coming back - on average twice a year for 10 years! Finally sold my house in GB and bought one in rural VA cash outright with some to spare. No way am I ever going back to cold, wet, crime ridden, oppressive, taxed-to-death Britain.

Yes God Bless America and lets hope she hauls your ass out of here!

Gee what a nice guy you are! And so witty and knowledgeable too, if fact you know more than my lawyer and the immigration specialist at the Senator's office!
Well Sir, I bow to your superior intellect, and it's obvious that the founders of this nation never had "any issues with the UK" and fought for their independence just for a bit of a laugh.
Thanks for your help, and have a nice day.

US Asylum law requires that the applicant be:
unable or unwilling to return to or avail himself or herself of the protection of the country of his or her nationality or, if stateless, the country where he or she last habitually resided because of persecution or a well-founded fear of persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion
Seeing as the UK is a free country where people cannot be persecuted on account of their race, religion, nationality etc I can't see on what basis you have asked for Asylum.
The answer to question why a lawyer would take your case is
1. They get paid whether you get deported or not
2. The law says anyone can apply for asylum
The senator is backing you just to placate you.
If you spent all your money on a house without a visa to stay then your a real dumbass! Once you have been denied you have 60 days to leave the country with no right to appeal. Try getting in the country again after that one!

There is a bit of difference between persecution for race or religion and ****ing with MI6.
Rule No 1: Don't **** with MI6
The UK is not on the International list of Asylum countries - that means if you are a UK resident you are not eligible for Asylum in any other country, so even if David Kelly had come to the US he wouldn't get asylum.
Remember that MI6 guy that went to France, he tried to claim asylum and denied for the same reason. IRA members where not granted Political Asylum in the US either so what makes Captain Dickhead here think he is priveledged enough to get asylum

Try telling that to the family of Dr David Kelly, the man who Downing St called the mole in the sexing up Iraqi dossier row. His body has been found, some view it as someone in authority wanted him dead. Conspiracy theorists will have a field day.

Patrick, I'm looking for assylum from my USC wife. She keeps beating me up. Says I don't scrub the floors hard enough.
Maybe Hugh Hefner will let me hide in his mansion.
"This thread is obviously a joke. Can't be serious. Uk, is probably the safest place to be for someone in trouble.
I know if I were running from the bad guys, I rather see a UK bobby, then any other cop in the world.

This guy is winding us up????????????????

He was no doubt facing losing his job and his credibility and therefore commited suicide. Conspiracy theorists will, of course, have a field day, but I can see no reason to get excited over the death of an old fool.
