I am going to apply for my first British passport. I am canadian born and both my parents are born, raised, and married in the UK. It seems as though this is expected to take 6-10 weeks. EEK. I'm looking to head over soon to work. I've been approved in my field. I notice the turn around time for a couple of you is really fast. So total turn around was only 3 weeks or so recently? No issues and no interview?

My turnaround from actually mailing was less than two weeks, but I had an existing US passport and a countersignor who is a UK passport holder, so I think that's why there was no interview and a fast review time for me. If you have a Canadian passport and a UK countersignor then perhaps yours will be very fast also. Other acceptable countries may take longer to verify the signature, I think.

I also had a British Citizen countersign all my documents, even-though she no longer had a UK Passport (she only had a US Passport). I think that if all of your documents are in order, forms are filled out correctly, photos are within spec, there are no issues, you shouldn't expect a long wait from submitting the application from Canada.
Good luck!

Great. I can easily get a countersigner with a UK passport. Hopefully my turn around time is just as fast as the rest of you!
