Apple Fest Weekend?

Re: Apple Fest Weekend?
There is a small village a ways from here and they are known for their love of keeping it in family. So their favourite time of year is Halloween, because they get to pumpkin.
By the way the town is real and so is the reputation.

My wife is from Maine and has told me about such places.
I think she said one is "Harvey Town"?? And another family that likes to inbreed apparently has the surname Piles, which of course leads to a joke along the lines of "there are piles and piles of Piles".

Try looking for your state apple growers association e.g. apparently in Virginia bramley's are not a commercial crop...boo. However Google is your friend, here's an article about getting hold of Bramley's in California. I just typed in "bramley apple by mail".
Thanks again

I forgot about the Bluesfest in my favorite little hippy town about 10 miles from here. The psychologist/author that gave the seminar I attended today gave a plug for his band playing in it tonight. I think that is the one I want to go to.

There is an Applefest this weekend in the next county over, but my town has the famous Popcorn Festival (yes, you read that correctly, we have a weekend devoted to popcorn because all the good stuff like sauerkraut, potatoes, and apples were already taken by neighboring towns).
You two should come down!!

Of course, I could have just watched the Thunderbirds in their uniforms and been quite content ...

Oh the air show was fantastic! We were guests of the Thunderbirds (long story, friend of a friend sort of thing) and got to watch the show from their chalet. Definitely go next time - it's worth it!

I do love Oktoberfest and esp. sauerkraut balls. Now, if I could talk hubs into going.....(maybe I could trick him and tell him there was a big cheerleading competition going on in town).
