Anyone using Acorn TV?

Anyone using Acorn TV?
There is a story in the Washington Post about a company called Acorn TV that streams classic British television shows, kind of like Netflix . Anyone using them? Worth the fee?

Re: Anyone using Acorn TV?
No, but I was mailed one of their catologues a month or so ago and it had an advert for their streaming service. The 10 shows last month included Vera, which I have heard good things about (I ended up buying the first series on dvd, from Acorn). I think that for $25 a year it must be worth it. We currently pay around $100 a month for our satellite service and probably watch no more than 6 channels of crap. Once I manage to convince myself that I want to watch TV on my computer I may give it a go. But in the meantime maybe someone else is subscribing, or willing to be a guinea pig?

No, but I have heard of them in passing too...though seems like there's quite a few other services offering similar stuff.
Though the money does sound good.

we just signed up for Acorn, get it through the Roku box, and there is a 30 day free trial, then $25/year.
decent selection of Brit shows, mostly the detective classics, Cracker, Prime Suspect, Foyle's war, so already seen most of them. It's a rotating selection available, worth a look! cheaper than buying DVD's on Amazon.uk....

just finished Blue Murder on Acorn, can't see anything like that on US telly. But have already seen most of the the stuff, nothing recent like Silk.
just saw that Roku has some other private channels, including BBC news free.

I don't have cable anymore, and just get Netflix via Roku. I looked at Acorn, but found that most shows are already on Netflix, so I wasn't impressed enough to try it out.
