Not a business owner...doing a bit of contract work...getting utterly crushed...before I was made redundant there were stacks of contract work going locally from loads of fields, media, architecture etc and that I want it, it's all dried up.

We had someone who did quite well with property, but I haven't seen him around here for at least a year.

Alien hubby came to the USA in 2004 and became immediately self-employed, sole proprietor of his own little rug repair business. The first 2 years were spent getting the business going, getting clients, learning how to do business in the USA, etc. The 3rd year was great, business was booming and looked like it was going to go strong. Fourth year went downhill, and this year has been really horrible...all the big rug shops (his major clients) are folding, closing up, going bankrupt. Doesn't look like it's going to perk up anytime soon, either.

Explain it to me and we'll be rich.. specialty fashion retail in a tourist resort and we're up significantly over last year (increases every year of business). 10 year old company.
Macy's July sales were down 11%.

We can't keep up and can't find staff. It's like a parallel universe.

I was listening to radio 2 this am., they were talking Speedos, and one of the presenters said " ohhhh you mean Budgie Smugglers", I had to laugh loud! Of course I shared with M. who dampened it with his lack of understanding of what a budgie is!
