Call the police before you clean it off, if you haven't already.

Maybe they weren't a Yank? The fact that it was spelt correctly makes me very suspicious...

Alright, remind me never to go to Florida....and yes I'd be looking Ray up. So what happened, did you call the police?

This kind of behavior happens everywhere, not just in the US but in every country. I speak from personal experience plus I have friends who've had this and worse too...

Does this mean you'll never travel away from home ever again? :)

Lets see, I lived in the UK for a few years and felt and experienced open hostility towards Americans....most of the time people never got to know who I was before they were assuming I was "another ignorant American" So I have experienced this....thankfully no one ever wrote anything on my door, but I know the "experience" I kind of find it hard to believe over here, probably because Brits are not seen in a negative manner as Americans are elsewhere.... And I do agree ignorance breeds everywhere, some places worse than others.

As far as travelling, it won't stop me and it never has, what about you?
:)

Florida is full of immigrants so I'm surprised this happened. It's probably someone you have pissed off over something and that's the only way they can get back at you.

That's kind of what I thought as well. Its like children calling each other names....they'll pick up that you're wearing glasses or something different about you. In the long run aren't adults just big bratty kids anyway? Morons!

I don't know anyone in the apartment complex, keep myself to myself, and I'm hardly ever there anyway

What's worse is it's probably someone he knows. British people don't look foreign in the US, so they would of probably spoken to him at some point.

You certainly live up to your custom usertitle, don't you? :D Your post I responded to came across as naive, that's all.

I was referring to hostility in general between citizens/neighbors around the world. e.g. hostility between races, genders, religions, etc.

Does you aparment complex have a large foreign community living there? It could just be a random attack.

Hope you find him, we'll administer justice the old British way, hung, drawn and quartered in front of a large crowd. There's no justice like angry mob justice.

I've never suffered any abuse like that, and I'm sorry to hear that you have. All I can say is that the person who did it must be one very sad pathetic individual with no outlook or prospect in life. Small and narrow minded springs to mind, and probably with an equally small and narrow penis to boot.

It's could be kids thinking it's funny. Have you got any in your building ?
My wife had a bit of 'set to' with a couple of 11/12 years olds in our apartments who were playing 'knock down ginger on our door' Unfortunately I wasn't there.
My wife, who's generally as quiet as a church mouse and wouldn't harm a fly, spoke to the mother who is the apartment manager, and as they walked away one of them said "Bitch, should be evicted"
A couple of days later 'Bitch' had been scratched on the bonnet of our car and 2 water-filled condoms tossed onto our balcony.
The mother has agreed to pay for the repairs with the help of a bit of persuasion regarding her job, her employers and the fact that her son is running riot.
I'm still waiting for her to get the kids to come and take the condoms away.
She has until tomorrow before I call the Police.
Talking to a neighbour it turns out that the main trouble maker had been kicked out of school and is on his way to one of those kids camps (junior prison thing)
He better not come near us in the interim period.
Forgot to mention, these are white kids, so nothing racial.
Can't do what I'd like to do and give the little shit a good kicking !

Actually I feel that was pretty rude NC....and a bit catty. Anyway, naive? No, I don't think so, as you may know, perhaps not....different states have different attitudes to different things. I actually like living in Washington, or my little part of it, its a bit more liberal than perhaps Tampa, Florida. Certainly more so than probably Alabama, Texas or even maybe South Dakota. :D

Hmmm and yes I think I referred to ignorance worldwide as well.... ;)

I'm just glad I live a couple of thousand miles away at the moment.

Er no, they won't. You could always write it on FatBrit's door, but he's in Arizona so not very practical.

There's no room, I'm afraid. Already has Futue te et ipsum caballum scrawled in red paint across the whole area.

A nice Arizona translation might be: **** you and the horse you rode in on.

No, nearly 93% of British are white. So 9 times out of 10 I should be right in guessing a person's skin colour if they say they are British, statistically speaking of course.

Its kids - I'd bet money on it.

Even if it aint - dont let it bother you. It just seems worse 'cos you're in a foreign country. Its just one person trying to make you feel uncomfortable and psyche you because they know it'll unsettle you a little. you've probably offended some small minded ape unknowingly - (parked your car in his place? Shat thru his letter box maybe? dunno....)

Just bear in mind that its only ONE person. Not the USA as a whole.

Bling!Bling! Ayyyyyy!

That's right, I said British people don't look foreign in the US, meaning that if you don't hear us talk you would probably think we're just white "Americans".

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at.

My fiancee had some interesting comments on this one: she had to get over some real prejudice against the British when we started dating. Apparently (in her school at least) the school system taught them to hate the British and what they had done throughout history, perhaps there are less forgiving people in your area?
