Anyone been to Yellowstone?
Just looking for ideas on where to stay. No, we won't be camping in an RV or tent. This would be in late August - early September.

Mrs tonrob and I stayed in West Yellowstone, a small town right outside the park gates with plenty of motels etc.

The Old Faithful Inn is a bit run-down, crowded, and 'rustic', but is still magnificent. I wouldn't spend the whole trip there, but I don't think a trip (at least a first trip) to Yellowstone would be complete without at least one night's stay.

I agree with tonrob - West Yellowstone had choice & was within easy reach of the park. We also stayed a night in Gardiner to the north - handy for Mammoth Hot Springs. Cooke City was a nice little place - not so much choice, but I do remember a fantastic breakfast
If you can, check out Grand Teton NP as well. Not so many geothermal goings on, but mind-blowing scenery. We stayed in a cabin at Colter Bay, but the town of Jackson has tonnes of choice as well.
Have fun - I'm jealous!
