Any advise would be great - Credit!
Could anyone advise on the mortgage situation when moving to the US?
We plan to rent for a year, but is this long enough to build up credit to get a mortgage in the US? And, what is the best approach for building up credit? Does your UK credit file have any bearing on it?
What are the bases for mortgages over there? E.G in the UK you can get 3 x your salary, is it the same in the US??

I'd suggest having a read of the threads on this subject...there are a couple already on the first page about building credit history...
The wiki already covers a massive chunk of info as well.
