With the republicans suddenly falling over themselves to embrace hispanics and immigrants in the aftermath of the last election, I wonder just how long good ol' Sheriff Joe can keep on about cracking down on the illegals ...?

Some day, Jindal or Rubio or Christie is going to call him up and tell him to get with the program ...

What's the dude on the cliff doing? Is he about to throw himself off from sheer despair at the stupidity?

How can this possibly pass muster as a textbook? I mean, why is it even allowed to bring up children with this level of ignorance? It's like the middle ages, it really is.

doesn't matter what you believe or how you try to indoctrinate, Science will win because it's fact and the evidence supports it.

How many times throughout history has judeo-christian religious teachings been proven factually correct over scientific learning? zero.

Thanks Darwin, Copernicus, Megellen, Gallileo, Dalton, Newton, et al, Religion has always in the end had to change to fit the scientific mould as people realised what the church taught was complete nonsense.

Oh good lord, save me from my fellow christians....

Where to start? Saying someone "believes" something has no place whatsoever in a science text book. You do not "believe" facts. Facts are objective and verifiable.

Organisms do not evolve (like a shape-shifter in a sci-fi story), but species do. No mention of the mechanism (natural selection), which is an observable, verifiable phenomena.

And the whole paragraph about the Flood and why animals are at the top of the fossil layers is completely laughable. I can't read it without going into a Sheldon-esque rant. Anyone with a science degree who seriously teaches that should have their degree withdrawn.

One simple question though, which I've never seen answered - where did all this water come from and where did it go? If there was a Great Flood which covered the whole planet killed all living things, that's rather a lot of water. Where did it go when it subsided (bearing in mind it covered the whole planet)? Did God just pull the plug?

Copernicus was a catholic clergyman, Galileo was a fellow of the church-sponsored Accademia dei Lincei and Newton firmly believed God was at the centre of the Universe. Additionally, the Big Bang theory of early development of the universe was first put forward by a catholic priest - Georges LeMaitre.

Away from the mumbo-jumbo, the church has contributed plenty to scientific learning.

I vaguely recall that someone once proposed that the Med' wasn't as big as it currently is and that either a wall collapsed or rising ocean levels overwhelmed a wall at Gibraltar thus flooding the basin to its current levels.

Checking the internets, it might have been the Black sea, the Med' was earlier.

it was times, in order to become educated, it was necessary to be well "in" with the ecclesiastical sphere.

He whom owns the libraries and books and research grants, controls whom learns.

However, your point wasn't a viable answer to my point.

When has a religious doctrine or belief structure overturned a scientific thought or theory based on evidence.

never......

The water went the same place as the "sky water" from Genesis. Something about a "vault"
