These kind of outrageous events happen everywhere though don't they? Whether it be NHS, France, SA or USA. Anyone can sit down and Google for some awful situation, and comment that it's because it's the USA. I sat down and googled for 2 minutes, and found all sorts of horrible situations.
For instance,

I had similar results with Google.

These things have been happening since the year dot. Now that info is posted on the internet, situations are being exposed. It goes on in all countries, sadly enough, not just the US. It has nothing to do with whether you have health insurance. Human beings are not all kind and loving individuals, even if they do work in a hospital setting.

It seems very unlikely (not impossible, but unlikely) to me that a US Representative would be stupid enough to reply in this manner. A lack of reply or a form letter seems far more possible, even if he felt the sentiments expressed in this e-mail. Also seems unlikely that someone would have access to his personal e-mail?

And representative Wimmer wouldn't be the first republican politician to be less than discreet with his personal electronic communication:

Who knows - maybe he does. Utah is definitely a place of its own.

This still does not change the fact that the US is the *only* Western industrialised country without some form of universal healthcare.

You are so right. All the arguments for the current system, no matter how rational they sound, crumble when faced with the fact that the US is the only industrialsed nation without universal healthcare. What gets me is that the population here is so lied to by the politicians (who are funded by the pharma companies etc) that they are convinced that if we have 'socialised medicine' that people will be left rotting in the streets and the sky will fall in. How can a national health care system be worse that what we have now, but that is so typical of americans. Their attitude is "I am ok and you can go to hell". Health care should not be run like a business.
