Default another 30 mins done in

Is it just me or am I the only one who spends far too much time on this forum (mostly reading, due my chronic social anxiety disorder). Over the last few months I have done in many hours on this site, it started as information finding and now it's mostly fun. I find myself clicking minimise when the wife comes into the room, so I don't get my arse kicked for monkeying around and it's not even porn! Sure beats doing anything constructive.

Much time reading jaybob, only 2nd time posting. (Welcome by the way.)
Agreed with you that this place gets addictive - as you will see from the one or two posts I've made I think it's because it's nice to talk to people who know where you are coming from. (arf !)

I agree with you on that one. This site has really helped - more so now that I have moved over to the US. It's good to know that other people are going through the same, sometimes frustrating, experiences!

To me this forum is like a breath of normality, I just can't slang with my co-workers because no-one knows what the heck I am on about!

I'm having a weird week this week I so want to go back to Blighty in the summer, flights are so expensive for the 4 of us in July (my grandma 90th birthday), reading everyones hilarious threads this week has cheered me up.....Cheers eveyone

Don't think you're alone there I like this forum, it's informative but it also makes me smile some days too.

I love the meerkat (sp?) avatar, btw

I come here nearly everyday as well. This site is handy and is a place to get a your head showered when life in the USA gets a bit much.

I also find that most people on here are some of the kindest i have come across in ages and have in a strange way almost become good friends to me. When you are feeling on your own here getting feedback from others experiences and occasionally kind words can be a great relief.

Thank god for UK expats i say.

regards,

Duncan

Oooooh I just had a thought, people read this stuff that we don't even think are out there!

<waves> "I'm Brigie, nice to meet ya!"

Jaybob... thank you for posting, I know all abhout the time lost experience. Sometimes I think I'll just check my mail and then watch TV or something, before I know it it's lunch time and I've got nothing done.

But, we don't bite and it really does make all of us happy when someone like yourself posts for the first time and lets us know you're there.

Anyone else wanna say "Hi"

Yes, hi everyone and thanks! I have found this forum very helpful and only wish it had been here when I first arrived in the States in 1990. So many experiences I had are echoed on here and it's a relief to know I'm normal (well, nearly normal anyway!!). I first moved to San Antonio, TX and had severe culture shock, though I did eventually adapt after 11 years -- never did get used to all the creepy crawlies though!

This this would be an appropriate time to bring this one back again -->

It's the "Where Are Y'all From ?" thread.
Post where you were born, where you moved to and where you are now. This is our version of introducting yourself to the forums.
