OK, you run out of options just wait until May and they will do it.

Well, just to throw in on this. We were not so successful. We did the Amex thing last March before move in August. When it came to trying the early transfer, I tried 3 times with plenty of persistence. For me, computer said No.
Maybe I'll try again!

Presumably there's no reason you can't maintain the card in the UK for now and do the transfer request when you get to your UK anniversary? I would just have your statements forwarded to someone else's house or set up an international mail forward for the next few months.

Nope, just using it occasionally on UK web and Xmas holiday. Probably wont add much to my us score when transferred. I only did it originally to do the credit score history transfer. Relying on my HSBC Premier CC to build score now.

How long ago was this? The dates around people's experiences can form valid data points.

Re: AMEX transfer to US less than 12 months
I called up yesterday about mine and I got a flat refusal too. No amount of persuading them was getting me anywhere. I don't understand why not though. my husband and I have a joint card and we spend a significant amount of money each month on it, but I got no help whatsoever! I don't even understand why it makes any difference to them. I said I'd just cancel my card instead if they can't move it and they said fine and put me through to cancellations!!

Re: AMEX transfer to US less than 12 months
To close off this thread (for me anyway)... a couple of weeks later I received an email saying my initial card application for a standard blue card had been accepted. A few days later it arrived. So maybe you just have to apply and wait these days. It's only got a $1000 limit on it, but it's a start.

Re: AMEX transfer to US less than 12 months
So I was reading the Amex website it says you should have the card for at least 12 months. Its a bit disappointing because I don't have the card for this long but I have read stories of people who transferred their recent Amax cards. Has anyone got any first hand experience transfering their Amex which was not 12 months old.
I got a US based Amex and credit limit of $10k right off the bat the week I landed in the US.

My AMEX case is still going on. They rejected my transfer application but I asked them to convert it to a new application and provided my pay stubs etc.
I have received a credit card from a credit union though with 5K limit. Not bad.

Is it possible to use the global card transfer from an International Euro Card (obtained in Ireland) to a US AMEX credit card upon arrival in the US?
The International Euro card (IEC) is similar to the International Dollar card (IDC), both are internationally obtained charge cards, administered from the International currency card dept. in Brighton, UK.
Global card transfers into the US are not possible with the IDC, according to the global transfer page on the Amex site. But the IEC is not mentioned as being ineligible.
Further, phone calls to the US transfers department and UK International currency card applications department confirm the prohibition of the IDC for global card transfers into the US, but can`t confirm the eligibility or otherwise of the IEC.
Does anyone have experience using an IEC for global card transfer?
