Americans take themselfs far too seriously
Thats it, there is no story to go along with it. It just drives grips my ball sack tighter ever time I have to go to work or speak to my neighbors and they so far up there own arses and take themselfs so damn seriously.
The europeans and especially the british have a self depreciating sense of humour that is seen as a weakness in America, if you are not puffing yourself up and telling the world you are the best, fastest, sexiest, biggest, badest honky mo-fo that has ever walked the planet then your in some way defective.
I know its a sweeping statement, but unlike most sweeping statements, this really does apply to everyone

I live in small town America and to my amazement have found that they don't take themselves at all seriously. It could just be the town I'm in, the friends we have but everyone I encounter is actually really laid back.

You are right though. The sense of humor of Americans US is generally different to that of the British. Explains why I don't watch any US comedy shows...

Hope you don't mind if I use your phrase to describe myself(see new profile under username). I feel this is a much more appropriate description for me in the US. Do you think it will help me with ladies?
