The American Obsession...

I'm going home, California to Scotland. Will spend at least five years there so wife can get UK citizenship. We'll travel Europe a lot.
UK/Europe has it's pros and cons, but so does the US. I cannot consider one to be much better than the other unless it's Europe, culturally.
Then we'll reconsider.

if everything goes as planned. I still cannot decide about US citizen ( and the annual taxes or forms to be completed each year, once home). There are pros and cons to getting it. All my siblings have it...I'm the one who just can't seem to make the decision

Brigette...I have many investments and it's definitely going to be a headache but I think after the first year or so it will be routine as long as I keep records. But having a US citizenship is pretty fortunate as it gives one a lot of flexibility on residence. You never know how the sociopolitical scene will change in the next few decades.

Vancouver, BC has a large film and tv industry. Maybe not Hollywood size but pretty substantial. A lot are made in Toronto too.

Apart from production that need to be geographically located in the Los Angeles area much of the production is moving away rapidly because of costs. Especially to Europe and Canada.
(I worked in production circles for a few years..if anyone needs some insight don't hesitate...)

I noticed there's some efforts by some states to get some production to their locality. New Mexico and Oregon come to mind. We had a local town used in some Jennifer Aniston rom-com as a stand-in for Kingman, AZ but that's been about it.

A lot of films/TV programs are filmed in Toronto. They change the streets signs, water hydrants and place a few US cop cars here and there...hey presto it looks like any US city as long as they cut the CN Tower out. Plenty of film studios there too.

The problem with the MA breaks, it brought very little money to the state as production houses brought people in and out before they were taxable. Seems to have tightened up the requirements last year though, so who knows how that'll play out.
