That's what I do, just book the tickets in the name on your passport, and take evidence of your change of name with you, ie. your marriage certificate.

Your ticket must match the name in your passport.

Do you still have your old passport showing your maiden name?

that wont work my big problem is that my airmiles account is in my previous name they will only issue ticket in that name, unless I do a name change. passport has that name but I will probably have a US passport by the time I fly and this is where the problem is because that passport will be in my new name.. confused I am....

I find that hard to believe.

I can use my various airline accounts to buy tickets for anyone I like so I am sure that you can buy a ticket for yourself under your new name. I can see that you might have some problems getting the frequent flier miles credited to you but I am sure that is possible as well.

Which airline is this?

United. I have spoke to two individual people and they both say I can not book using my airmiles using a different name than what my account is in. I wanted to book the tickets and change the name on the account also but they said that the name change would take 10 day and until that was done I could not book the ticket

I never changed my name in my passport so when I travel overseas I make sure I have my birth cert, marriage certificates and divorce paperwork with me. So far havent had a problem, passport expires in January so I'll do the name change thing then.

Hi Candy

My husband books air tickets for me through United using his air miles all the time. it's often the only way I can go back to the UK. My son and I are going back in October and my flight is all air miles and my son's is part air miles and part paid for.

Bev, you sound like my sister! She only has a sniff of wine and talks the same way!

No problem booking for someone else...I am just going to book it in the name I have my airmiles account in then change the name on the airmiles account when I get back.. I will have one passport in my married name and one in the same name as the ticket.. should be ok...

Ah, I see. I keep forgetting about name changes when getting married. I was lucky enough to marry a man with the same last name and spelling as myself!! Very convenient and no relation to my first husband!

Have a great vacation!
