Doesn't that depend on the port of entry?

And all that assumes your LPR status remains valid.

Yes but we're talking Heathrow. Which last time I checked was in England. Where one uses one's British passport.

We were, it was the poster who said a USC avoids lines at Heathrow who's confused, not you. Actually this whole thing is getting a bit confusing.

The bottom line is that if you have dual U.S./British citizenship, you avoid the lines on arrival in *both* countries.

So you have to pay both US and UK taxes, if you return to the UK? That's harsh.

Yep -- but as JAJ helpfully pointed out it really isn't that bad. First of all, there's a big whack tax free. After that, the dual taxation treaty cuts in. So for most it's going to be more paperwork rather than more tax.

The same problem exists with the GC, though. The difference is that if you relinquish your PR status by leaving, you've not got taxation on your worldwide income, whereas as a citizen it follows you everywhere and forever.

[QUOTE=fatbrit]Yep x.

Having to fill in those US tax forms forever really puts me off the idea. The thought of being 80+ some day and still having to do all that :scared:
