Default Adoption and British citizenship

Hi all, my USC wife and I are looking at possibly fostering and adopting once we are a wee bit more financially stable, I was wondering if we adopt while I am still a UK citizen would the citizenship pass down to our adopted child, or does it only pass don if it is a biological child?

Not automatically, normally, for most non-U.K. adoptions. However you can apply for the child to be registered as a British citizen before age 18.

You say "still a U.K. citizen", presumably you're aware that acquisition of U.S. citizenship does not cause loss of British citizenship.
