Default Accountant / Tax Advice

I am based in the States (NYC) , and I need an accountant, does anyone have any recommendations? I was told I could file my taxes through my Partnership in the UK, but my UK accountant does not know what day of the week it is, and I am not even sure this was the right advice to begin with. So I am looking to get hold of a NY accountant, on the ball with some common sense.

Look forward to your replies!

If you are a US resident, IIRC you have to file taxes in the US. You might get what's called a foreign tax credit for the taxes you paid in the UK but that might actually increase your tax burden...

Anyway, I don't have a recommendation for an accountant in NY, but I found a pretty decent one out here via the 'Endorsed Local Provider' section on Dave Ramsey's (one of the personal finance 'personalities) website http://www.daveramsey.com/. Might be worth a try, I'm sure there are a few of them in NY.

Hi Sofia.
I use Pete Newton who I found on here. He did my taxes last year and is doing them again this year. He helped us on my husbands UK taxes and our US taxes. He is also in NYC. I highly recommend him. Tell him I told you to contact him.
