About to travel to Forth Worth, TX. Any advice on affordable accommodation aside from getting an hotel? just for the initial month of settling before going on a lease. Thanks

Could try Corporate Housing.
and perhaps there are short term rentals on Zillow.
Some hotel chains are quite good for apartment style stays. @ $150, Hilton for example, their Homewood Suites have kitchens with fridge/freezer/cooker/dishwasher/laundry/complimentary dinners etc.. (That's what I would do, and sign up for their points.)
Is your employer not arranging accommodation?

Many people chose to go the AirBNB way for a short term stay of a month or less.

This is a large area. Fort Worth is the 15th largest city in the US (5th largest in Texas) and has a population of almost 900,000. The area is intersected by i35W,, i20, i30 and circled by 820. Which part of Fort Worth are you looking at? Some commutes are easy, and some you definitely would want to avoid. I can do the 46 miles between my home and my hospital in 45 minutes at the right time of day, or 1.5 hours if I pick the wrong time of day. There is mass transit, but it doesn't cover the majority of the area.
I'm in the DFW area (Dallas/Fort Worth).

We stayed in the Homewood suites, Hilton......its an extended stay hotel so you get a little suite with a kitchen, and they have washing machines and dryers that are coin operated ($2 a load and you can buy detergent for $1)
They do breakfasts and evening appetizers
