Default Acceptable Blood Pressure for medical

Hi all,

Does anybody know if there is an 'acceptable' limit for BP readings during the medical in London? I am currently averaging 145/85 - not too bad - but tends to get higher during checks - which in turn tends to raise an eyebrow or two.

I am working hard to get it down prior to my medical - but just curious if anybody had an experience with this?

Thanks!

Normally USCUS is concerned about communicable diseases, addictions, and uncontrolled mental illnesses. Although the medical may check for other conditions, the over health of the individual is normally not considered adversely in obtaining a visa. Sometimes if an individual has very serious medical problems, USCIS will require that he/she has medical insurance before a visa is issued.

That BP will get you a referral back to your GP, since I had the same issue at my medical.

Anything over 135 is a referral I was told.

I would go armed with a letter from GP that says it is being monitored and treated.

Thanks for the replies. What does a GP referral entail exactly?

They'll ask you to go back to your GP and have it rechecked - they provide a standard letter to give to them. If its still high they will want you to agree a treatment plan, the GP will then need to write a letter detailing what you have discussed, which is why I suggested doing this in advance and bringing it.

Great. Thanks for the info civilservant. This seems like quite a simple fix in that case? ..at least for immigration purposes!

I'm otherwise fit and healthy don't smoke or drink and eat right..just have high BP in my family..which doesn't appear to cause any other health issues.

Thanks again for the advice.
