Some readers have posted queries concerning the issuance of the 90 day EAD at their POE.
Agnes was given a 90 day EAD upon arrival at JFK - even without her asking. This was great - she thought at the time. Now this was in July. The majestic twin towers still graced the Manhattan skyline.
In the real world, things were somehow different.
Knocking at employers doors, we discovered was that this 90 day EAD stamp served no great value - it was practically useless. My wife was turned away from good jobs because of this 90 day limitation, albeit meeting every other legal and professional requirement. Security issues or post 9/11 paranoia had no relevance on the Human Resource's decision.
In light of the post 9/11 developments, and the myopic purpose served with the 90 day EAD, newcomers may be well served with the facts and realities involving the 90 day EAD.

I agree that this can be a nasty problem for anyone wanting to work from just about day one. Employers really should take the 90 day stamp as being as good as the proper card EAD, but we all know the reality of these things is not always the same as the theory...
K-1's are just going to have to get married and apply for AOS and a "proper" EAD much sooner than up till now has been usual.
As I found out yesterday, DFW have stopped issuing them.
At least here in Dallas, you can go a next-day AOS once you are married and apply for the EAD at the same time.
