Bill Maher's take on it this week was disappointing. He feels Islam is the only religion which uses terror.

Just to name one example. Maher is occasionally spot on and occasionally off the mark. That kind of generalization on his part or the part of others does not help but rather feeds the fire.

Spot on. We can go back a bit and look at what was done to the indigenous peoples of the new world by all of those good Christians, be they Catholic or Protestant, because the indigenous folk were considered savage heathens and not intended by God to have such land and only good to kill, enslave and worse. Religion sucks.

Indeed. He tried to get out of that by saying he was only dealing with the here and now, but he's still wrong.

I still love him though

Seems that the Canadians foiled a plot to attack a VIA train.

Last week in Boston, in a senseless and abhorrent act, terrorism struck again and 3 died and 170 or so were wounded (17 critical). In an all-out manhunt, the city was placed in martial law and we threw any rights to freedom out the window to catch the despicable individuals responsible. Upon apprehension, the one living suspect was not read his rights.
The real fear from terrorist acts, then, is not the damage in blood spilt, which when put in perspective is extraordinarily small in comparison to other real threats plaguing our streets, it is the fear generated from the blood spilt, or as FDR said, “The only thing to fear is fear itself.”
source, one of those alternative media sites that say things the MSM doesn't: http://www.1800politics.com/terroris...reater-threat/

What frightened me is the imposition of martial law (in effect) on one million residents - count 'em: one million - kept in "lock down" mode by jackbooted troops from several police forces, dressed like Darth Vader and carrying what some on this thread would classify as weapons of mass destruction, all in pursuit of one teenager. I can only ask: W... T... F...?!

It makes no difference how the UN defines it or how the dictionary defines it, what matters is how the relevant federal law defines it. (Whether or not civilservant agrees with how the federal law defines it.)

The contrast with gun crime struck me as well.

"Shelter-in-place" directives are not mandatory. There is no way to legally enforce it. People were free to ignore and a few actually did.

The IRA campaign had nothing to do with religion.

I though he acted very predictably, and he even got all shocked at being called an islamaphobe, despite that being his default position for years. But you already know I do not like his arrogant attitudes in a few areas.

He just has such a small world view, made worse because he thinks he is so enlightened.
