Default Working in the US

If I get married to my girlfriend who has a H1-B visa, will I be allowed to work in the US as well? How about if she has her green card. Would I be able to work? Thanks guys....

The spouse of an H1-B holder cannot work unless they get their own work visa. Otherwise, they get an H4 visa which is not valid for any work whatsoever.

Once your spouse has been granted permanent residency (Green Card) you would be entitled to work in the US, I believe.

The best place to ask this question would be on the Visa board though.

If you marry an H-1B, you are eligible for an H-4 visa which does NOT allow you to work.
If you marry a Green Card holder, plan on spending the first 5 years or so of your marriage apart.

You might consider an H-1B of your own.
