Will I be deported? pls tell me what can happen!
I have a question about what my status in the US will be after a
divorce. I have been married to a US citizen for almost 2 years but recently got separated from my wife. It looks like a divorce will go through in the next few month. We had our interview with the INS in winter 2001 and i received a plastic green card a few month later. The plastic card is valid i think for 2 years and then we go for another interview. Prior to the green card I got two EADs. Then around the time the second EAD expired I filed some additional paperwork, had the interview and finaly received a greencard in the mail.
Anyway...I wonder if I need to expect any trouble if I get divorced in the next few month? what are the implications and let me know the worst that can happen? will i ever be able to get the permanent residency? she is threatening me with withdrawing her INS appeals and i guess she has written the INS to say that she is not interested in the union anymore. I do not know what to do at this point. I have been law-abiding and have all my work details etc

It's a bit more difficult than normal, but you can still get your Green
Card. You will have to prove that this was a bona fide marriage and you
didn't enter into that marriage for immigration purposes. Then you can
still get the condition removed.
My recommendation is to hire a competent immigration attorney to handle
this.
