Will Chicago USCIS stamp my Canadian passport?
Hi,
I had a query and was wondering if anyone here might be able to answer
it.
Background:-
26 Nov 2002: Applied for AOS (from a K-1) in Boston
16 Jul 2003: Interviewed but not approved as original K-1 file missing
01 Aug 2003: Wife and I moved out of Boston to Chicago. Informed
Boston in writing about change of address. Also filed
AR-11 with Kentucky.
26 Dec 2003: Letter received from Boston USCIS at our Chicago address
informing me that my AOS was approved on 15 Oct 2003.
They advise me to go to the Chicago USCIS to get my
passport stamped.
Now the letter I got is a hand written note by an officer from the
Boston USCIS. It is not on official letterhead though the envelope
clearly depicts the sender as Boston USCIS. My query is, will Chicago
USCIS entertain this request? Will they issue me an I-551 stamp? I
hope they do not tell me to go all the way to Boston to get a stamp.
Any ideas/suggestions/experience will be welcome.
Regards,
Saif.

Hi,
I guess when luck shines on you, it shines thoroughly.
Three days after I got my approval notice, my plastic card landed in
my mailbox, forwarded from my Boston address. The officer's note from
Boston had the correct approval date as that date was on the green
card itself. I guess I can lie low until Jul 17, 2005 now.
Regards,
Saif.
