Hi All,

My father-in law recently immigrated to the US about a month ago. He cam here on an immigrant VISA (family based petition). When can he expect to receive his greencard? Also... what address do they send it to? Is this address based on the sponsor's address?

How can I check the status and what do I do if he doesn't receive the greencard soon?

It is mailed to address your father-in-law gave as the address he was going to be residing in. Should take about 4 to 8 weeks to receive. In the interim he does have the I-551 stamp in his passport which is the stamp verison of the green card.

What form would he have put this information on? Is this something he filled out when he got to the port of entry?

In another thread you wrote:

So, does he have a green card or not? If he doesn't, why did you lie to us? If you want answers from complete strangers, that's really not the best way to go about it.

Her mom and siblings came over a year ago and since received their cards but father in law got here only a few months ago and is waiting on his.

It might have been on the I-130, which the petitioner filed on his behalf. It could be on any one of the visa applications he filled out. Hopefully he, or the petitioner, has copies of everything that was filled out.

It is on the paperwork he completed at the US Consulate and he was asked that question at the POE.

You have the answer to your question right there. Where did the mother and siblings get their cards and how did the USCIS know where to mail them?
