Default When is "work" NOT work?

Dear All

A familiar story I know...................
Met a girl from Texas and want to spend more time with her.

Question :

on the VWP can I hold meetings with U.S. companies and introduce a U.S.
product?

I can support myself financially for about 2 years so I do NOT need to
receive payment, of any kind.

The plan is, if all goes well, we marry in about 1 year. Then I will
work for the U.S. company full-time and receive payment.

I've looked into H1B - not fast enough and L1-A - possibly too
complicated.

I just want to "try it out" for a few months in a realistic
environment. i.e. having to work as well as develop a relationship.

Ideas please?

Thanks

Paul

Representing a US product in the US requires work authorization. The way you are compensated (if at all) is not material. Not to mention that what you describe is probably sales. You can't even put a US product on a table and point to it without work authorization. Your "meetings" would probably fly if it were a foreign product sold directly by a foreign company and you were only taking orders.
