Whats my status?
Just out of curiosity ... what exactly is my status in the US now?
Came in as K1 (which expired about a week ago), applied for AOS but the
letter I received back from BCIS indicates that they are "processing"
applications from 2.5 years ago ... So, am I now a "conditional permanent
resident" or am I just in a big black hole now - as obviously 2.5 years from
now I will go directly to LPR status ... ?
Thanks!

You are not a conditional permanent resident until the AOS has been
approved. Yes, you are technically in black hole. You need permission to
leave and return, permission to work, etc...... Of course, for IRS
purposes, you are a probably a resident. For other purposes, you might
not be.

Re: Whats my status?
Chick,
No, you are not a conditional Permanent Resident. You won't become a Permanent Resident of any kind until the BCIS processes your application and makes a decision on it.
"in a big black hole" describes your status nicely :-)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the status be
"period of stay authorized by the Attorney General"...?

Noorah,
Yes her status could be described that way. But it may not answer her question. :-)
