US visa of Type R; Class D

Type R indicates that it was placed in a regular passport, not Diplomatic (D) or Official(O).

Class D is for a seaman/crewmember. D1 is for coming and going on the same vessel/plane. D2 is for returning on a different vessel/plane than the one that they arrived on. It's usually a combination C1/D visa.

Thanks. So people with this type of visa can enter US but must depart
with the ship they arrived with if it is D1. Am I correct? As soon as
they do not abide by the visa regulations, they are out of status,
right? Is there a website I can read about this visa in detail?

What can possibly happen to those with that visa who applies for
political asylum?

Where are the words "misuse a visa" (or even visa) in the Title 8 (!) USC
1324. May be you should at least consider to stop lying to this newsgroup

Well..they already have. I mean misusing the visa. My family took them
in - they got our phone number from someone back home via many contacts
of theirs and called us from the motel. This is the first time I am
seeing this type of visa. Though they misuse it, they do deserve
political asylum (my opinion). Because their visa could be used for 2
years, they mistakenly assumed that they could stay here for two years.
Yes..they can't read English well though they can speak a little bit.

We got them our contacts of people who could use them in the
restaurants and these seamen will be on their way to that state soon
and they will be applying for PS once they get there.

I've never seen you give one speck of useful information on this forum. All you do is pop in an make some stupid comment.

Anything that could be seen as assisting someone in entering the US or remaining in the US in violation of the law could be a violation of 18 USC 1324.
