Service Center from abroad?

Re: What telephone number for the USCIS National Customer Service Center?
It is displayed on the USCIS website. Google is your friend.
BTW it is the USCIS 1-800 MISINFORMATION line. Don't believe anything the untrained, unskilled contract phone operators tell you.

It's not possible to call a 1-800 number from abroad (at least not from the NL, judging by his name).

Why not call an overseas USCIS instead. They list their phone numbers
on their web pages.

I hope that (1) they will be correct if they tell me (2) that all the
GC-extension business like biometrics taking, can be arranged by the local
consulate. Or else that you can make an Infopass appointment to have the
visit to the particular USCIS Center take place at a convenient date & time.
I'm asking on behalf of a friend of mine who is very busy and wants to make
this extension as painless & simple as possible.

Thanks, HunterGreen; looking through the Google hits before I just missed
the overseas-calling option that they have.

I don't think they would be correct if they told you that.
Green Cards can't be extended.
"Biometrics" also can not be done outside the US. Permanent Residents live in the US, remember?
Don't *make* me have to go look up your other posts.

The answer to your question is on the form I-751 or I-90: There isn't
a biometrics appointment and thing are done the way they used to be
done in the good old days (fingerprint card and photo to be send with
the form):
"Those who reside overseas pursuant to military orgovernment orders,
including conditional resident dependentsresiding overseas and listed
under Part 5 of the form, mustsubmit the following items with Form
I-751:
A. Two passport-style photos for applicants and dependents, regardless
of age.
B. Two completed fingerprint cards (Form FD-258) forapplicants and
dependents between the ages of 14 and 79.You must indicate your Alien
Registration Number (A#) onthe fingerprint card and ensure that the
completed cards arenot bent, folded, or creased. The fingerprint cards
must beprepared by a U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate, USCISOffice, or
U.S. Military Installation. In order for USCIS to identify filings
based on military orgovernment orders, applicants are required to
indicate on topof Form I-751, "ACTIVE MILITARY orGOVERNMENT ORDERS",
and submit a copy of theircurrent military or government orders."
Now, question to you: why didn't you ask it directly to the newsgroup?
We know more than any contractor of the misinformation line
It seems that you greatly underestimated the collective knowledge of
the newsgroup ...

Yes, indeed, if you are not abroad based on the US government orders,
then you'll have to do the biometrics in the US.
After all, you were only visiting abroad - and your permanent
residence is in the US. Remember?
