What is the status.?????
if someone arrives in the US on a B1 or a B2 and later he or she
applies for adjustment of status.....what happens to thier status as
far as BCIS /INS is concerned. are they legal till their visa expires
or are they legal even after the visa expires ( usually is for 6 mths)
.. till the time their application is approved or denied...??

Your B1/B2 visa is normally valid for 10 years, it is the I94 that is valid for 6 months, once the AOS has been filed then yo are legal until the case is adjudicated.Obviously if the case is successful then you remain legal.
