Bush's extremely militaristic threats is making me very nervous about letting my
fiance l(scheduled to fly back Sept. 11 after a two week visit) return to London to
await the K-1 visa we filed for on August
31. Is it possible that if war is declared, they would stop working on visa
applications?

In New York City the time for a green card after adjustment of status is about two
years. I wonder if that is relevant. We would have such abundant evidence that we
were a legitimately married couple.

It seems that now, of all times, marrying on impulse while waiting for a K-1 visa,
might seem legitimate. There is absolutely no reason--health, police record, etc-that
he would be denied a K-1 visa.

I am desperate for advice. I might have decided way too quckly that marrying now is a
risk we didn't want to take.

In my opinion, anything is possible. In a state of war, I would not be surprised to
see embassies closed, for the safety of the personnel working there. If retaliation
starts, then I think that we will be even more subject to threats of terrorism. This
is just my humble opinion, bear in mind. If you think we have a lot of arabs here,
however, you should be in London. The culture is very diverse, to my extremely
limited observation.

None of us can make that decision for you, obviously. You might feel better by going
and talking to an immigration attorney and getting his feel for this situation,
frankly. That is what I would recommend.
